ArtÓ X William Thomas - Rubiks. This original textured acrylic on canvas (stretched and boxed) 100cm x 100cm is part of the Icons collaboration series, a creative meeting of minds and ideas that came about during a June 2023 visit with William Thomas in our gallery in Stow-on-the-Wold. This piece is a vibrant wall filler and pays homage to the 3D combination puzzle originally invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. William employs a bold style of painting, using layering to create texture with great results. His attention to detail is also incredible. The bold colours on each face of the cube and its rotating sections really pop off the canvas.
