Good things come to those that wait, yes, but the best things come to those that pursue them with honest fervour. The ArtÓ team was delighted the art gallery and event space was chosen as the venue to host the UK launch of Henri David-Heucq champagne by McCormac Vintners thanks to synergies in approach across the brands. All three place importance on enthusiasm based on insight and connection as well as delighting in aesthetic value and sensory appreciation.
McCormac Vintners, named in honour of co-founder Robert Mercer’s great uncle with whom he spent cherished childhood moments widening his cultural and culinary horizons, discovered Henri David-Heucq in equally personal circumstances. The Mercer family developed a close relationship with the champagne house through a series of celebration events and were the natural choice for the vineyard when expanding its reach to the UK.
‘When you’re a family-run business, the whole ethos of trust, quality and fun comes into it,’ enthuses Robert Mercer. ‘Henri David-Heucq are a very passionate family and have won many awards.’ Robert works alongside son Harry and daughter-in-law Helena to offer a personalised service based on detailed knowledge of the Henri David-Heucq range which includes Brut, Brut Rosé and Blanc de Blancs lines and a 2015 Millésimé.
With an emphasis on visionary and emerging artists, who are supported financially upfront through our ‘owned not loaned’ ethos, ArtÓ was thrilled to open its doors to McCormac Vintners and their guests, who made full use of the stimulating atmosphere of the gallery as well as the intimate Brewery Yard setting. Attendees at the exclusive launch enjoyed magnums of Brut champagne served in tulip glasses which enhances the aroma by trapping and condensing it.
‘The wonderful thing about the evening was that the conversation flowed so effortlessly,’ reflected ArtÓ Gallery Ambassador Emma Bovill. ‘McCormac Vintners curated a dynamic group of people to enjoy the champagne with unique characters and natural raconteurs holding space for understated enthusiasts. Against a backdrop of varied artworks and in the absence of forced formalities the event felt like the special occasions that had prompted the original link with Henri David-Heucq.’
Located in the village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Henri David-Heucq reveals its creative side with the opportunity to personalise bottles including the capsule, label and bottle wrap. Champagne on display at the launch event with a Día de los Muertos theme was the perfect match to pieces in ArtÓ’s ‘cabinet of curiosities’ and artworks in our collection such as Falling Sparrow by Todd White, Gasmask Girl by Lucinda Lyons, Zeta Puppis by Alastair Gibson and our range of prints by Chris Guest.
McCormac Vintners are exclusively representing Henri David-Heucq in the UK and have ambitions to expand their product range to include sensitively selected wines, bringing together the perfect elements for a sensational party.
